Cathedral of Hope UCC Names New Pastor of CoH Mid-Cities Church

The Rev. Rachel Ciupek-Reed has been named the new pastor of Cathedral of Hope Mid-Cities, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, in the Mid-Cities area between Dallas and Fort Worth.

    DALLAS, TX, October 06, 2011 /Religion PR News/ -- The Rev. Rachel Ciupek-Reed has been named the new pastor of Cathedral of Hope Mid-Cities, a congregation of the United Church of Christ, in the Mid-Cities area between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Texan by birth, Rev. Ciupek-Reed joins CoH Mid-Cities from Southern California, where she most recently served as Senior Pastor of Mt. Hollywood Congregational Church UCC.

'With great joy and celebration, we welcome Rachel Ciupek-Reed to our Cathedral of Hope family,' said Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson, senior pastor of Dallas-based Cathedral of Hope UCC. 'Her joy, enthusiasm and deep love for all people will empower our congregation in the Mid-Cities in all areas of faith.'

Her first Sunday in the pulpit at CoH Mid-Cities is October 9, 2011. The congregation (www2.cathedralofhope.com/coh-midcities) meets at The Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane, Bedford, Texas 76021.

Rev. Ciupek-Reed graduated with a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Systematic Theology from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA in 2007. Prior to entering ministry, she worked in the fields of non-profit development and information technology. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from National American University in Denver.

The third of five children, Rev. Ciupek-Reed grew up in the American Baptist denomination. Her mother, father, step-father, and grandmother are all ordained American Baptist ministers.

Born in Dallas, Rev. Ciupek-Reed left at the age of 16 months when her family moved to the jungles of southern Mexico sothat her parents could learn first-hand about life as missionaries. The family eventually moved to Northern California and her parents entered seminary.

Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rev. Ciupek-Reed has travelled internationally and visited 49 of the 50 U.S. States (Alaska remains).

Moving to Texas with her is Lily Truly Scrumptious Tomlin, her 14 year old WestiePoo. 'I am delighted to be in Texas,' she said. 'My father lives in Austin, and ' m even closer to my mother, siblings, and nieces who all live in Indiana.'

'Mostly, I have a deep desire to serve the community of the Mid-Cities Church with God-given grace and joy in the years to come.'
