MIAMI, FL, September 02, 2011 /Religion PR News/ -- Dale Young, Director of Congregational Health for Baptist Health South Florida, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in pastoral care.
With more than two decades of professional experience, Rev. Young possesses expertise in grief support training, cross-cultural counseling, medical-religious relationships, and spirituality in the baby boomer generations. He is known for thinking outside the box and being creative, as well as a visionary. Rev. Young utilitzes his knowledge and skills as the director of congregational health for Baptist Health South Florida. His position primarily entails providing health care services and support through seminars and support groups. Rev. Young has developed and taught a number of training workshops on the congregational health model.
Rev. Young contributed an article to the book "Building Healthy Communities Through Medical-Religious Partnerships," published by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2009. The same year, his doctoral thesis was published as the paper "Baby Boomer Spirituality in Transition to the Third Age" by the Florida Center for Theological Studies. Prior to earning a Doctor of Divinity and becoming a board-certified chaplain, Rev. Young spent nearly 6 years as a mission developer for Iglesia Evangelica Luterana in Chile. Rev. Young continued his outreach work; during the summers of 2005 and 2006, he traveled to parts of Sri Lanka and India that had been devastated by tsunamis and trained more than 120 peer group grief facilitators.
In appreciation of his work, Rev. Young has received numerous formal honors throughout his career. Most recently, he received a recognition for outstanding contributions, leadership and professional service to the diversity committee of the Association of Professional Chaplians. He also won a $10,000 award from the Health Foundation of South Florida, as well as a recogntion of service from the Racial Ethnic Multicultural Network. In the years to come, Rev. Young hopes to do more research on the spirituality of baby boomers, care team programs for spirituality, and practical support for postoperative care.
Rev. Young's success is rooted in his strong educational foundation. In 2009, he earned a Doctor of Ministry from the Florida Center for Theological Studies. Twenty years earlier, he earned a Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary. He also studied cross-cultural counseling at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and completed a residency in clinical pastoral education. A board-certified chaplain and ordained minister, he holds a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Rev. Young maintains affiliation with the Association of Professional Chaplains, Health Ministry Association, Inc., and Action for Health in the Americas.
