Take a chirpy approach to Lent. Pope Benedict XVI has begun tweeting daily for the season of repentance leading up to Easter, according to Vatican Radio.
Here's an RT:
@Pope2YouVatican: BXVI: The Lenten season offers us once again an opportunity to reflect upon the very heart of Christian life: charity. #Lent
Benedict, the first pope to tweet, started on Twitter last June with a 140-character shout out to Jesus.
As part of his social media push, the Vatican had a blogger summit last year as well to encourage Catholic voices to help spread the Church's message.
Wednesday, the Vatican said the Lent tweets -- evidently delivered by someone tapping a screen in Benedict's name -- are just the beginning.
... over the coming months other papal speeches and documents are likely to be tweeted in a similar way, hoping to attract the media-savvy generation and entice them to find out more.
DO YOU FOLLOW ... the pope, at least for Lent? Or are you sacrificing social media time as part of your Lenten practice?
