Diane Cornett Deal serves as the Clerk of the Superior Court in addition to running a tree farm, craft shop, and lodging cabin
VILAS, NC, August 12, 2011 /Religion PR News/ -- Diane Cornett Deal, Owner of Songbird Cabin and Cornett Deal Christmas Tree Farm, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in farm management.
In 1986, Ms. Cornett Deal established the Cornett Deal Christmas Tree Farm after purchasing a farm which had originally been owned by her ancestors. At the time, she was a single parent of an 8-year-old daughter and living with her parents. Her father, who also owned a farm, gave her 1,000 seedlings, which she planted and began selling 7 years later after the trees had grown. Today, the Cornett Deal Christmas Tree Farm is a thriving 26-acre "choose and cut" farm that is open to the public the weekend before Thanksgiving and each weekend through the third weekend in December. Ms. Cornett Deal manages all operations of her tree farm and craft shop.
Additionally, in 2000, she built Songbird Cabin as a vacation rental in order to further share her land with others. This furnished two bedroom cabin features a large front porch, a stone fireplace, a recreation room with a pool table, one bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen and laundry area. Ms. Cornett Deal now knows many families who routinely return to rent the cabin. She attributes her success to the support and encouragement of her family and friends.
In addition to running her two successful businesses, Ms. Cornett Deal worked at the County Clerk's Office for 30 years. After retiring, she was elected as the Clerk of the Superior Court. She supervises a staff of 12 people and oversees the courts and records of Watauga County. Ms. Cornett Deal, who has also done public speaking, hopes to run for office again and serve three terms. She also hopes to eventually turn her farm over to her daughter and step-daughter.
